Summer Reading

I have a mixed bag of reading in store for myself this summer. I have already read two short books, one on cooperative learning and another on teaching mathematics. I am also planning on rereading "Cooperative Learining in Mathematics" by Neil Davidson and "The Quality School" by William Glasser. This last one is one that anyone planning on teaching should read. I have also begun reading parts of Moreland & Craig's "Philosophical Foundations for a Christian Worldview" as well as Craig's "Reasonable Faith" and Randy Alcorn's "Money Possessions & Eternity". I have a couple of others that I hope to get to including Brian Greene's book.

While I am here I would like to ask for you prayers. Teachers, like myself, get paid based on years of experience and college credits past a bachelors degree. Other than Intro to Logic none of my coursework at Den Sem has counted toward lane changes and pay increases. I am now at a point where my annual pay increases are only about $200 a year, not even keeping up with cost of living. It is getting to a point where we are having to make some serious financial decisions. The only way I can make tuition payments at Den Sem is to take out loans, which I had to do this last year for the first time. Anyway, I am going to have to decide whether to take a hiatus from Den Sem and get another MA in Math Ed., which would take one and a half to two years and then return to my PR studies or work on them concurrently, which would require the whole tuition to come out of pocket which would be difficult to say the least. I am really struggling with this decision. On the one hand I feel like I need to care for the well-being of my family and on the other want to trust that God will provide in the studies to which He has called me. I am waiting for direction before making a firm decision and could use much prayer.

Thanks in advance,

Matt
